Astronomy is the scientific study of celestial objects (such as stars, planets, comets, and galaxies) and phenomena that originate outside the Earth's atmosphere (such as the cosmic background radiation). Astronomy is one of the oldest of the natural sciences. The early civilizations in recorded history performed methodical observations of the night sky. Before tools such as the telescope were invented, early study of the stars was conducted using the naked eye. The course is designed to create awareness among the students about the stars, galaxies and the universe. It also aims at addressing some of the advanced concepts in this subject and introducing them to the present-day astronomy. The following topics will be covered in this workshop:

  • Introduction to Astronomy

  • Discussion on Solar System

  • Evolution of Stars

  • History of Astronomy and Origin of Universe

  • Exploring Milky Way Galaxy

  • Observation Techniques

  • Working principals of Telescope

  • Observation of planets through a telescope

  • Activities and Models Making

  • Interaction and Multimedia
